Harry Kane's post-match voice had the studio in bits

At first it just seemed like a funny little post-match moment, the kind of thing that gets clipped and forgotten by the next day. But the longer it went on, the more you realised how completely done he was and how the interviewer was basically trying to squeeze blood from a stone. Then the studio reaction kicked in and everyone was laughing and I was laughing too, but it also felt a bit like watching someone get gently roasted on live TV when they have already given everything they have got and now they are just trying to survive the segment. Honestly the more I think about it the more ridiculous it gets and I cant even blame anyone for cracking up because the voice was unreal

I was in the pub watching it and the whole place went silent for a second because nobody expected him to sound like that and then one bloke at the bar just absolutely lost it and started doing the voice back at the screen and by the end half the room was in tears and the other half were telling him to shut up because it was one of those moments where the joke just keeps getting bigger and bigger and every time the interviewer asked another question it got even sillier and now my mates are still bringing it up like it was some legendary cup final moment when really it was just a man with no voice trying to be polite on live telly

The interview was funny because the contrast was so stark, but it also showed how much people notice when a player is clearly spent. The studio reaction turned it into a proper clip, yet the real story was just Kane trying to get through it with almost nothing left. That is what made it work.

It started as a harmless laugh at a croaky voice and ended up feeling like one of those weird little football moments that lives forever because of how perfectly awkward it was. The interviewer probably thought he was doing his job, the studio clearly thought it was hilarious, and Kane just had to stand there and take it while sounding like a cartoon character. The more I watch it the more I think the broadcast team were the real villains here because they could have saved him after the first answer but no they kept poking and now the internet has another immortal clip to run into the ground and I cant even pretend Im above it because Im laughing too
