Henry on Ronaldo: team first

The officials would rather let the whole thing become a circus than actually control the game and it always ends up with the same nonsense where one incident gets talked about for hours and the actual football gets buried under ego and brand and nonsense and the referee just stands there like it is nothing while everyone else has to deal with the chaos because somehow the team is supposed to play through all that and then people act like the criticism is all about one player when really the whole match management from the officials is a joke
 
nah i dont buy that at all, he was not saying ronaldo should never try to score he was saying the team has to be the priority and thats a huge difference, people are just reading it as a personal dig because its ronaldo tbh
 
the way some of you are acting like this is an outrage is hilarious mate the quote is barely even harsh and yet here come the stan accounts with the full meltdown
 
Henry is right because the best sides share the responsibility instead of forcing every attack through one name. Portugal can still use Ronaldo, but if the rest of the team is waiting for him to bail them out then they are making life harder for themselves imo
 
Portugal need better spacing and more varied final-third patterns if they want to avoid becoming too predictable. If every move is designed to find Ronaldo first, the opposition can sit on it and kill the rhythm before it starts.
 
People keep pretending Ronaldo is still the same player he was years ago and that is the problem because the whole attack gets dragged into this weird shrine around him where every touch has to be about him and every chance has to go through him and then when it does not work people start blaming everyone else instead of admitting he slows things down and turns the game into a personal project and i am tired of seeing it because the team should not have to orbit one man forever
 
This is why punditry works when it is honest because Henry is not dressing it up or trying to be clever he is just saying what the team needs and that should be the whole point of the analysis and yet every time Ronaldo is mentioned it becomes a massive culture war like people cannot handle the idea that a legend can still be criticised and a team can still be built better around moving the ball instead of worshipping one player it is exhausting honestly
 
Portugal fans already know this is going to be used against them for months and the rest of us are just sat here enjoying the chaos because every Ronaldo clip turns into a full blown war in the replies and the man has not even said anything yet
 
Henry is speaking from experience and that is what makes it sting. He knows exactly what it means when a great player becomes bigger than the pattern of the team, and he is basically telling Portugal to keep the structure first. Fair enough. But you just know the reaction online is going to be ridiculous because Ronaldo discourse always becomes a personality test and people will scream about respect or agendas or whatever else, when really the point is simple and everyone can see it if they are being honest
