Henry on Ronaldo: team first

It just feels like one of those moments where the whole internet is waiting to clip the quote and run with it. I can see why Henry said it, but I also know it is going to be used as fuel for endless Ronaldo arguments for the next week at least
 
The basic idea is hard to argue with because the collective has to matter more than one player’s personal numbers. But once you say Ronaldo out loud, the whole thing stops being a football discussion and becomes a referendum on legacy, respect, age, marketing, and whether people think criticism is hate, and that is where it all goes sideways because the actual tactical point gets lost in the noise and everyone starts shouting about agendas and documentaries and who gets protected and who does not
 
I honestly think people are being way too harsh on Ronaldo here because the man is still carrying the expectation of an entire nation and every touch gets judged like it is some crime if he does not score and that is not nothing and Henry knows that too because he was a top player himself and should understand the pressure of being the reference point for everything so when he says the team needs to score i get the message but i also think it is too easy to turn it into another pile on when the real problem is that Portugal keep putting him in the middle of every conversation and then acting surprised when the whole thing becomes about him
