Hull back in the Premier League

Honestly this is why I never fully trust the whole narrative machine around football because one week a team is supposedly dead, the next week they are somehow promoted and everyone is pretending they had the script all along, and then you get the xG crowd acting like they have been personally attacked, and the owner will be out there grinning like a genius, and the manager gets turned into a legend overnight, and the fans are losing their minds while every neutral is either laughing or pretending to be above it, but the real point is that Hull found a way and Middlesbrough did not and that is what matters, all the noise about lawyers and spreadsheets and pub quizzes is just the extra layer of madness that makes this whole thing feel like football has completely lost the plot in the best possible way because nobody can ever just win normally anymore

Hull were probably not the prettiest side over the season, but they clearly understood how to manage the key moments. In these games, compact shape and game control matter more than flashy numbers, and they got that balance right when it counted. Middlesbrough will be kicking themselves for a long time.

im not even a hull fan but this has got me buzzing because i love when the championship goes completely off the rails and everyone is left arguing in circles while one club just gets on with it and climbs up anyway, proper mental stuff
