Tactically this is awful for the host because it changes the flow of the event before a ball is kicked, fans will arrive later, spend less time around the stadium, and be far more on edge. You want a tournament to feel welcoming and easy to navigate not like a checkpoint operation
 
Honestly this whole thing feels like the sort of decision made by people who have never been near a real football crowd in their lives because anyone who has stood in a queue with thousands of fans knows the mood can turn in a second if somebody starts grabbing people and asking questions and then you have alcohol, heat, delays, noise, and all the usual nonsense and suddenly what should be a normal matchday becomes a flashpoint and it is just beyond me that anyone thought this would be a smart or even remotely normal thing to do
 
Imagine trying to sell this as a family friendly sporting festival while also having people worried about being stopped on the way in absolute genius from the same people who think this is all normal
 
I think people are being too quick to act like every fan is going to be treated the same here because that is not how this stuff works and the reality is a lot of people who travel to tournaments are just regular supporters trying to enjoy football, see their team, and go home again, and now they are being told to feel guilty for even turning up. It is not fair to lump everyone together because of what the authorities might do, and if you are a genuine visitor with your papers in order you should not be made to feel like a criminal just for wanting to watch a match, the whole atmosphere around this is poisonous and the anger should be aimed at the people making the decision not the fans who are getting caught in the middle
 
The bigger issue is trust. Once fans believe the stadium environment includes immigration checks or similar enforcement, it changes how they move, where they gather, and whether they come at all. That is a serious problem for any host nation trying to stage a successful tournament.
 
This is exactly the sort of thing that makes a tournament feel hostile before it has even begun. The whole point should be to bring people together and instead they have managed to make it sound like a warning. If you are a travelling fan you are already thinking about tickets, flights, hotels, visas, all of that, and now you have to wonder whether the match itself is going to turn into a trap. That is insane. It is not normal, it is not welcoming, and it is not how you build a proper football atmosphere, and anyone acting like this is just standard security is taking the absolute piss because it clearly is not
 
The sensible point here is that any major event needs clear and predictable policing, because once people think enforcement is random or politically motivated they stop seeing the venue as safe. But this is also part of a wider pattern where the whole tournament already feels like a showcase for the wrong reasons, and every new announcement just adds to the sense that nobody involved understands how football actually works. Fans want a matchday, not a scare story, and if the organisers keep going down this road they will end up with empty seats, angry visitors, and a reputation that nobody can scrub away. And honestly the more you look at it the more it feels like these people care more about posturing than the event itself, which is exactly how you kill the mood before it starts
 
mate if this was anywhere else people would be losing their minds about it already but because its football some people will still pretend its normal and then act shocked when fans are on edge and the whole thing turns into a circus
 
i dont even think theyve thought this through properly because football fans are not exactly known for being calm and polite if they think theyre being targeted and if you add booze and a massive crowd to that then youre asking for trouble and thats before you even get into how many innocent people could get caught up in it
