i dont even think the kick itself is the main problem because plenty of people are rubbish at football but the whole thing is being used to clown him when really its just a staged promo and people are acting like he personally insulted the sport by missing the ball

The clip is funny on its own, but the reason it spreads so quickly is because it confirms a narrative people already have. A bad touch from a random guest would be forgotten instantly. From him, it becomes a symbol of how detached the top of the game feels from the pitch.

Had a mate in the pub who saw this and immediately started doing the whole fifa are finished routine and to be fair the lad was halfway through his pint and fully committed to the bit but everyone around him was laughing because it really is the sort of thing you only see in football where the bloke in charge of the whole circus somehow looks the least convincing person on the grass and it reminded me of when we had a company do years ago and the boss tried to join in with a five a side game and spent the whole time standing on the edge like he was afraid of the ball and then the first time it came near him he swung at it and nearly took out the refreshments table and that was embarrassing enough without cameras on it so i can only imagine how much worse this looks when it is the head of fifa doing the same sort of thing in front of everybody

I actually laughed out loud when I saw it because it is so weirdly on brand for him and for FIFA and I know it should not matter that much but it does make you feel like the whole thing is a joke sometimes and then you remember he is meant to be the face of the sport and it gets even worse
