Infantino's Under-15 World Cup madness

I was in the pub when this came up on someone’s phone and the whole table just stopped because nobody could tell if it was real or some fake headline someone had made up for a laugh and then we realised it was Infantino and suddenly everyone started laughing in that disbelieving way where you know the world has gone a bit wrong because football people at the top keep acting like normal standards do not apply to them and I remember saying out loud that if someone had pitched me a children’s tournament with Disneyland ceremonies and a war opener after a couple of pints I would have told them to get out of the pub and yet here we are with it being an actual story and that is what gets you because the line between satire and reality is basically gone now
 
The officials and everyone around this sort of project are the real problem because these ideas do not appear out of nowhere and then magically survive on their own they get nodded through by people who should know better and who are happy to dress up nonsense as ambition and that is exactly why football keeps ending up in these stupid situations where the headline is more embarrassing than anything you could make up the whole thing sounds like a boardroom full of people trying to impress each other with how big and global and innovative they can sound while ignoring the fact that they are talking about children and politically sensitive fixtures and turning it all into a tourist attraction and honestly if anyone signed off on that opener idea they should never be allowed near a football meeting again because it is not just tone deaf it is contemptible and the absolute lack of judgement is staggering
