Inter/Arsenal and Liverpool/Real banned in the draw

Tactically it probably changes the draw more than people think because it removes one obvious pairing and nudges the probabilities around the rest of the pots. That said, the bigger issue is still the format itself, since a lot of the same clubs are seeded into similar positions and the same patterns keep emerging
 
i was actually looking forward to one of those repeat ties and now it feels a bit flat, not because the football would be worse but because those nights have become familiar and weirdly fun, now i just know the draw is going to spit out something else and i will pretend to be excited anyway
 
It is less about fairness and more about making the league phase look fresh. Whether it works is another question.
 
The rule is trying to reduce repetition, but it only partially succeeds because it targets the exact same pairing rather than the broader pattern of elite clubs meeting too often. If UEFA wanted a cleaner solution, they would have to rethink the way the draw is structured rather than patching over it with one-off exceptions.
 
i mean i get why theyve done it but it still feels weird because the reverse fixture being allowed makes the whole thing look half baked and now everyone is just going to joke about it for weeks, not sure it actually improves anything
 
This is exactly the sort of rule that makes modern football feel overmanaged because instead of letting the draw breathe they are trying to control every little repeat and every possible outcome and then people wonder why fans get fed up with the whole thing because it just becomes a pile of conditions and exceptions and by the time the draw happens nobody is actually talking about the football anymore they are talking about whether some rule blocked one match but not the other and it is all just a bit exhausting and unnecessary

I can see why some fans like the idea, but it still feels messy and slightly patronising, and the way it only blocks one direction just makes it even sillier because now everyone is going to focus on the loophole instead of the actual football
 
The worst part is how this kind of thing always ends up being framed around one or two clubs when the real issue is the same handful of teams getting dragged through every draw cycle again and again, and then the likes of Inter or Arsenal or Liverpool or Real just become talking points for a system that was already predictable, and now fans are left arguing about whether a fixture is banned or allowed while the actual quality of the competition gets buried under admin nonsense and honestly it is maddening because these are the exact games people want and the rule just picks random lines to draw in the sand for no good reason
