Joao Pedro left out of Brazil squad

From a squad-building angle, Brazil may be prioritising role clarity over pure talent. The comments suggest they want a striker who offers physical presence and a different reference point, which explains why Endrick or Igor Thiago are being mentioned. Even so, leaving out a player with this much support is always going to look controversial.
 
I am going to stick up for the side that left him out a bit because everyone in here is talking like Joao Pedro is the only obvious answer when the reality is national teams have always made odd calls and sometimes they are just thinking about how the whole squad works together rather than who had the nicest club season and people keep acting like the decision is automatically corruption or nonsense just because they are angry and that is lazy to me because if the coach wants different movement, more physicality, or a plan that suits the rest of the group then that is a legitimate choice even if it hurts and honestly all this crying about Neymar and sponsors and pop stars is getting on my nerves because some of you would complain no matter who was picked and then call it a scandal when it does not go your way
 
honestly i get why people are mad but i also think some of this is just the usual tournament squad panic where every omission becomes a disaster and every inclusion becomes a conspiracy and if he really is as good as people say then he will get another chance and probably prove them wrong but right now it just feels like everyone is shouting over each other and nobody wants to admit the coach might be thinking about something different
 
If they are really going for a more direct option then fair enough but the way people are describing Joao Pedro makes it sound like he gives you everything anyway and that is why this decision has everyone so rattled because it does not feel like a clean footballing choice and the more you look at the names being mentioned the less convincing it gets
 
I think the key issue is that Brazil are balancing short-term fit against long-term reputation. That can produce sensible decisions, but it also creates huge controversy when a player like this is left out.
