Junior Kroupi breaking the Premier League record for most goals in a debut season by a teenager is some proper achievement. Scoring against Manchester City to do it makes it even more ridiculous.

Bournemouth have quietly built something really interesting if you look at the names being mentioned here. The recruitment gets a lot of praise, and this is exactly the kind of signing that makes people sit up and take notice.

There’s also the usual Arsenal and Liverpool chat already, plus a few people wondering how Bournemouth pulled it off in the first place. Either way, it feels like one of those moments where a player’s name suddenly becomes common knowledge overnight.
 
Bournemouth doing mad little side quests while everyone else is losing their heads, proper recruitment masterclass if you ask me, they just keep finding these players and suddenly they are all over the place making top sides look silly
 
The whole thing with these records is always a bit of a joke when the officials and the league set the rules one way for one club and another way for everyone else, and then people act shocked when a teenager gets a goal and suddenly the stat gets dragged out like it means the world, the amount of nonsense around signings and who can buy who and what gets looked into and what doesnt is exactly why fans are fed up, it feels like everything is bent to suit the bigger names and the smaller clubs have to just take it on the chin and smile while the same old people in charge pretend everything is fair
 
The way some people are acting like he’s already the next king of football off one record is hilarious, calm down lads he’s done well but you’d think he cured hunger the way they are going on about him
 
Fair play to him, but it is still early days for a teenager. Bournemouth deserve credit for spotting the talent, though.
 
Nah I dont buy the whole its just a stat thing because breaking a Premier League record as a teenager is still a massive deal and you dont do that by accident, people are trying to downplay it because it makes their club look slow
 
At some point you have to say Bournemouth are doing something right because these comments are full of people talking about the same club like they are some lucky outlier when really they keep identifying the right profiles and trusting them, and this kid breaking a record against City is exactly the sort of thing that gets everyone scrambling, but the moment a bigger club circles people will start acting like he was always obvious and it is all a bit mad really
 
This is exactly why football discourse gets ridiculous because one minute people are talking about a teenager scoring against City and the next minute he is being treated like some solved equation, Bournemouth will get praised for five minutes and then every giant club in the league will start hovering, the fee will get talked up, people will moan about value, and then when he has one quiet game everyone will suddenly decide he was never that good anyway it is the same cycle every time and it does my head in
 
I was in the pub when the notification came through and everyone on the table did that thing where they all lean over one phone like it is the last bit of football news left in the world, proper weird moment because half the lads had never heard of him and the other half were already acting like they had watched every touch he has ever made, football really does turn a name into a chant overnight
 
If you strip away the hype, this is still a sign that Bournemouth have strong scouting and a clear idea of what they want. A club does not keep landing these kinds of players by chance. That said, the internet will now turn him into a meme, a wonderkid, a future Ballon dOr winner and a transfer saga all before the week is out, which is a bit much really
