I think the funniest part is how predictable the whole reaction is, because every time Kane does something significant the same arguments come out and the same people pretend they are not impressed, but the numbers do not care about the noise and neither do the records, he has been one of Englands most dependable players for years and people still want to reduce everything to one thing or another and it is just exhausting, like at some point you have to admit that scoring for England in major tournaments is not easy and if someone keeps doing it then maybe he is actually really good, which apparently is still a controversial statement for some reason, the whole discourse around him has become so weird that fans almost seem annoyed when he succeeds because it ruins the script they had in their heads, and now this record is just another thing they will downplay until he gets the next one and then act like they always rated him
 
imagine thinking lineker is clear just because he had vibes and a nice smile kane has actually been doing the business for years while people yap on about old footage and nostalgia
