Late drama at Newcastle again

That was absolute chaos right to the end and somehow it still feels like the most Newcastle v Liverpool game ever. The late penalty, the reactions, the whole thing had proper madness written all over it.

Liverpool nicking a draw late on will feel huge for them, while Newcastle will be absolutely gutted after being so close. Hall getting singled out for that mistake is brutal too, especially when people are saying he had a storming game before that.

And fair play, Szoboszlai took the penalty brilliantly. Even if you think Newcastle deserved more, that finish was ice cold.

Hall has had a proper storming game all night and then that one brainless moment just throws it all away, absolutely killed the whole mood for Newcastle mate, you cannot be giving away a penalty like that at that stage of the game when everything is on the line and the ball is in the box and all you need to do is stay on your feet and instead he goes in, makes contact, gives the ref a decision and then Szoboszlai does the rest, brilliant pen yeah but Hall has to wear that one forever and people will be clipping that mistake for weeks now

Nah I dont think you can just pin this all on Hall like that because Newcastle were still in control for most of the game and Liverpool kept pushing all the way to the end, they didnt just get gifted anything here and the draw feels harsh but not random

Liverpool kept the pressure on until the very end, and that mattered more than people want to admit. Newcastle looked like they might get away with it, but once the penalty was given there was only one outcome if Szoboszlai struck it cleanly.

I cant lie I was already half celebrating for Newcastle and then it just all went to shit in the last second, proper gut punch stuff, you think youve seen the game out and then bang one moment changes everything and everyone in the ground must have just gone silent

There is a reason people always talk about this fixture like it is guaranteed entertainment. Newcastle had every reason to think they had done enough, Liverpool kept believing, and the ending was just brutal for anyone in black and white. Szoboszlai takes the penalty and it is a perfect hit, no messing about, no hesitation, just pure confidence. But for Newcastle it is another one of those moments that will haunt them because they were so close and then one challenge changes everything and now everyone is talking about the mistake instead of the performance and honestly that is what makes football so cruel

Liverpool staying in it until the final whistle made the difference. Newcastle will feel hard done by, but the late pressure was obvious.

newcastle just always seem to find a way to make it dramatic against liverpool dont they, every time its late goals or some mad ending and then everyone acts shocked like it wasnt coming, hall had been good but that one moment is all anyone will talk about now

The penalty itself was excellent, but the real story is Liverpool's persistence. Newcastle looked closer to the win until that late moment.

Liverpool probably deserved something from the game just for how long they kept forcing it, but Newcastle were still right there until the very end. The penalty is the kind of finish that kills momentum instantly imo

From a tactical point of view this is exactly the sort of game where one late mistake decides everything because both sides had spells where they looked in control and then it flipped in an instant. Liverpool never stopped coming forward and Newcastle never really settled after the break, so the pressure was always going to build. Then Hall makes the challenge, the ref points to the spot, and Szoboszlai just absolutely buries it with no drama at all. That is elite mentality, proper big moment stuff, and Newcastle fans are left staring at the screen wondering how it happened again because this fixture always does this to them and it is honestly enough to make you lose your mind

How on earth do you let that go to a penalty in the 90+8th minute after getting through all of that and then everyone sits there pretending the officials had no part in the chaos when they are the ones who let the whole thing turn into a circus, one second it is looking like Newcastle have done enough and the next it is a spot kick and half the stadium is fuming and then the replay comes up and people are arguing about every angle and you just know the ref is going to be the main talking point all week because this game had no business ending like that and the whole thing feels like a complete mess
