Late drama at Newcastle again

I am sorry but that is just ridiculous from Newcastle because once you get to that stage of the match you cannot be making that kind of challenge and handing Liverpool a way back into it, especially when you have already done the hard part and kept them out for so long, the whole thing was there to be managed and instead it turns into a panic moment and then Szoboszlai steps up and finishes it like a man who has been waiting all day for that exact chance, and now everyone is going to talk about the penalty and the mistake and not the rest of the game because that is what happens when you switch off for one second at the end
 
People are acting like Newcastle somehow threw this away on purpose when the reality is they were brilliant for huge parts of the game and deserved far more than to be hanging on like that at the end, Liverpool kept pressing and that matters but Newcastle actually fought for everything and looked the better side in spells, so calling them soft or saying they bottled it is just lazy nonsense because one late penalty does not erase the effort and intensity they put in across the match
 
Liverpool's late equaliser comes from sustained pressure rather than one lucky break. Newcastle were organised for long stretches, but once they started dropping deeper the space and momentum shifted.
 
A lot of people will focus on the penalty itself, but the broader point is that Liverpool kept themselves in the game by never letting the tempo fully die down. Newcastle had their moments and probably felt the points were there, yet the late stages can punish any lapse in concentration. Still, this is exactly why this fixture gets so much attention because the tension is never normal and then suddenly everyone is arguing about one moment, one challenge, one finish, and honestly it feels like every time these two meet the internet forgets how to behave and turns into a complete meltdown over the smallest detail
 
I can see both sides here. Newcastle were excellent for long stretches and will feel aggrieved, but Liverpool's continued pressure made the late equaliser feel possible all along.
 
People acting like that was some kind of miracle when Liverpool just kept spamming pressure until something gave way and then suddenly everyone is shocked that a late penalty happened like this fixture hasnt been doing this for years
