Interesting one this if there is any real smoke to it. Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye agreeing personal terms with Liverpool is the easy bit in these situations, the real battle is always with PSG and whatever price they decide to slap on it.

If Liverpool are serious about a double deal then that feels like a proper statement move, but it also raises obvious questions about who makes way. Gakpo is the name that keeps coming up and you can see why. Still, until the clubs sort it out, it is all just talk and negotiation noise.

Either way, it is the sort of rumour that gets people going because it could end up being huge or it could just disappear into the usual transfer swamp

Seen this sort of thing a hundred times at the pub when the lads are on the transfer window chat and everyone suddenly knows a mate of a mate who says its basically done, then two weeks later its all gone quiet and youre left with nothing but warm lager and a phone full of nonsense, personal terms always sound like the easy bit anyway because the player wants the move and his agent wants the move and everyone wants the noise, its the club to club bit that drags on forever and by then half the fanbase has convinced itself that the signing is either world class or a total flop before anyone has even kicked a ball

Every transfer thread is the same now honestly one random line about personal terms and suddenly everyone is acting like the unveiling is booked for tomorrow and I get it because Liverpool fans want something to talk about and PSG are always a pain in the arse to deal with but this is still just the opening act and the actual negotiation is where it falls apart nine times out of ten, I remember sitting in a spoons with a mate during one window and he was proper certain a deal was done because some bloke on his phone had said the words agreed in the same sentence as a player name and by the next morning it had turned into three different rumours and a load of people arguing about who would be sold, football twitter and reddit and all the rest just turn every tiny update into a full blown saga and then everyone acts shocked when nothing concrete happens and the club just keeps moving in silence

Liverpool fans seeing the words personal terms agreed and immediately planning the parade like PSG wont turn up with a ridiculous number and spoil the party, absolute transfer window theatre

On paper this is sensible because agreeing terms removes one layer of uncertainty, and if Liverpool want a double deal then they probably have a plan for the squad balance. But the minute PSG enter the picture it becomes a completely different sport because they can drag this out, ask for silly money, and make everybody look silly for getting excited too early, and honestly that is what annoys me about these rumours, the same cycle every summer, one report, ten takes, then three days of people pretending they know the exact fee, then the whole thing collapses and we are back to square one and everyone is furious for no reason, it is exhausting and hilarious and somehow both clubs always end up in the middle of the same circus

The key detail is that personal terms are usually the least complicated part of a deal. If Liverpool really want both players, the next step is whether PSG are willing to sell without turning it into a long standoff, tbh

A double deal would make sense if Liverpool are trying to refresh the attack, because getting the players to agree first at least shows intent and avoids one obvious hurdle, but the whole thing still depends on PSG not deciding to be difficult for the sake of it, which they often do in these stories, and that is where the frustration comes in because you can already picture weeks of rumours, price bumps, vague updates, and people arguing over who should leave, probably Gakpo in the frame if anything happens, and then the entire fanbase will spend half the window acting like it is done and the other half pretending it was never realistic in the first place

Liverpool and PSG negotiating a double deal sounds like the sort of thing that keeps journalists fed for weeks and keeps fans arguing in circles because nobody trusts a single update these days and every little leak turns into a full blown drama

if this happens then fair play but i swear every time liverpool get linked with a psg player it turns into a saga and then nothing happens and everyone acts surprised like we didnt all know ps g were gonna make it a pain
