The key issue is whether his style can survive the jump in intensity and expectation. At Bournemouth or a similar level you can often absorb a bad spell, but at Liverpool every weakness gets exposed quickly and the margin for error disappears. If he adapts well, it could be excellent.
i dont buy the idea that this is automatically a downgrade from the previous options because the name on the door is not the whole story and some of the best appointments in football looked risky at first anyway, people just want the safest sounding answer until it actually happens and then they pretend they backed it all along
i was half expecting a different name but this has me properly intrigued now because it feels like one of those appointments that can go either way and that is exactly why it is so stressful, if it works everyone will call it inspired and if it doesnt the whole thing will be a mess and i will be sat there stressed out either way
It is an ambitious appointment and that alone makes it interesting. The success of it will depend less on the headline and more on whether Liverpool give him the right squad balance and enough time to settle in. If they do, this could be a very smart move; if they do not, the pressure will build fast.
