Maresca to City? Bald Fraud lives on

So the rumour is that Enzo Maresca has already agreed to succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and honestly it feels like one of those stories that was floating around for ages before finally getting said out loud.

On paper it is a massive job, but it also feels like City are trying to keep the whole machine going with another manager who fits the same general idea rather than ripping it all up and starting again.

The Chelsea angle makes it even messier, because a lot of people are already pointing at the timing and wondering how much was lined up while he was still there. Either way, if this is real, it feels like the end of an era and the start of a very different one for City.
 
Honestly this is the sort of thing you hear down the pub and think nah no chance, then a week later it turns out it was dead obvious all along, like when my mate swore blind a bloke from work had already lined up another job before he handed in his notice and everyone laughed at him until the bloke actually walked out with a box of pens and a smile on his face, proper same energy here with Maresca and City
 
The officials in this whole situation are the ones who always let the side down because if this was agreed while he was still under contract then how is everyone acting shocked now, these things never get looked at properly and then months later the same suits are on TV pretending they had no idea, absolute nonsense from start to finish and it always feels like the people with the money and the contacts get to do whatever they want while everyone else is told to move on and shut up, proper joke
 
I cant lie this has proper caught me off guard, one minute hes at Chelsea and the next hes apparently lined up for City, football moves mad sometimes and you almost have to respect the speed of it even if it feels a bit grim
 
If this is actually true then City have basically decided that the Pep era is over and they want the closest possible version of it without actually saying it out loud and that is such a cold way to run a club, like there is no romance in it whatsoever just keep the system ticking and swap the face on the touchline, which is exactly why everyone else hates them, because they never seem to panic they just pick the next bloke and carry on as if nothing happened and honestly you have to admire the confidence even if it makes you want to throw something at the telly
 
Chelsea fans really watched him leave mid season and now he might walk into City like it was all part of the plan, absolutely diabolical scenes and I can already see the replies from people saying it was obvious
 
The main question is whether City want continuity or another elite-level reset. Maresca suggests continuity, but Pep is such a unique standard that it still feels like a drop in status.
 
Maresca would probably be sold on as the safest transition option because he knows the structure and the style already, but the issue is Pep is not just a style he is the whole package and replacing that with a similar idea does not guarantee the same control
 
At some point you have to admit this was never just random noise, because the timing with him leaving Chelsea without a payout makes it all look prearranged and that is why people are reacting like this, not because Maresca is a disaster on paper but because the whole thing feels so neat and convenient for City and so awkward for everyone else, and if Pep really is moving on then the idea of the club just slotting in another coach who knows the language of the place is exactly the sort of thing they would do, which is why rival fans are already acting like the dynasty is dead and maybe it is, maybe it isnt, but the vibes are completely different now and everyone can feel it
