Maresca to City? Bald Fraud lives on

I dont agree that this is some huge decline already, City are not suddenly becoming mid just because Pep leaves and Maresca comes in, they have too much behind them for that and people are acting like the sky is falling a bit too hard
 
I think people are overreacting a little. City may not dominate in the same way, but they will still be strong.
 
The sensible take is that City have built a structure where the manager matters a lot, but not in the same way as at most clubs, so a successor who understands the existing framework makes sense. But then you remember how much of Pep's identity is tied up with the whole thing and you start wondering whether any successor can actually look comfortable in that seat without being compared to a ghost every single week and that is where the whole conversation gets a bit silly because fans will either call it genius or a disaster before a ball is kicked
 
Chelsea fans acting like they got robbed when the bloke has apparently already lined up the bigger job, absolute comedy, proper used them for a stepping stone and legged it
 
City are obviously not panicking here, they are just choosing someone who fits the environment and knows how the club wants to play, which is fair enough. Still feels a bit strange seeing Maresca linked with that seat after Chelsea though imo
 
I dont think this automatically means City are finished, theyll still be monsters with that squad and those resources
 
There is a real logic to appointing someone who already understands the standards and the expectations around the club. At the same time, Pep is such a singular figure that any successor is going to face an impossible comparison, so the reaction online feels inevitable.
 
city fans will say its all part of the plan but it still feels weird as hell seeing maresca linked with that job after chelsea and if he really agreed already then fair play to him for moving how he wants
 
People keep talking as if City are about to collapse and that is just not how football works, they are not one manager and gone, they have the money, the structure, the recruitment, the academy, the whole thing, and even if Pep moves on they are still going to be a problem for everyone else because that is what happens when a club is built this way, and frankly Maresca deserves a bit more respect than people are giving him because he has clearly done enough to get considered for a massive job and if he gets it then let the man work before everyone starts writing the obituary for City and acting like they are suddenly Luton
 
I honestly do not get why people are so eager to pile on him already because Maresca is being judged like he has failed before he has even walked through the door and that is ridiculous, he has clearly shown enough for City to think he fits what they want and if the club believe he understands the players and the style then that is good enough for now, but no everyone wants to turn it into some joke about baldness and downfall and act like he is some nobody who has stolen the keys to a supercar, it is lazy and it is unfair and half the people laughing will be deleting their comments if he starts well
 
It makes sense from a system perspective because City often want continuity in how they build and play. The bigger issue is that Pep has set a standard that almost nobody can match, so even a sensible appointment will be judged against an impossible benchmark.
