Martinelli wins it late for Brazil

I had this on in the background and when the winner went in I actually just stared at the screen for a bit because it felt like one of those moments where everyone knows what is coming except the team defending, Japan had me thinking they might finally get through it and then bang it is gone and now I am sat here annoyed for them like I support them or something
 
The key thing for me is that Brazil did not panic when the game got messy, they stayed in it and waited for the moment, and that is often what separates a side with quality from a side just surviving. Japan were competitive and had plenty of good organisation, but once the pressure increased they started making decisions that invited danger, and at this level that is fatal. Still, the reaction to one late mistake is always extreme, people act like the entire match plan was nonsense the second the ball hits the net, and then the conversation turns into blame culture and memes and everyone forgets how football actually works, which is that one moment can undo a lot of decent work and one good move can make a whole night look different
