The coincidence is funny enough on its own, but I think people are leaning too hard into the spooky angle when the bigger story is still the football. Portugal did not look like a side with a clear attacking plan once Spain settled, and that is where Martinez has to take the hit. That said, it is also a reminder that international football can be ridiculous in the most random way, because suddenly everyone is talking about a date and a shirt number as if the universe has a script. Football fans do this all the time though, one mad detail and the whole thing turns into folklore, and then before you know it the actual tactical debate is buried under memes and doom posting and people pretending they predicted the whole collapse from the second the draw came out
