France have done it late again and Mbappé is right in the middle of it. At this point the man just seems to pop up when the pressure is on and the whole thing turns into a proper scene.

Senegal will be gutted to lose it like that, but there is no denying how brutal France can be when they get into that kind of rhythm. Mbappé in this sort of moment feels like a different animal, and people are already talking about records and the bigger picture.

It feels like one of those results that gets remembered more for the finish than the full game. France fans will be buzzing, Senegal fans will be fuming, and neutrals probably just sat there thinking here we go again with Mbappé
 
Mbappe in these moments is just ridiculous honestly you can talk about systems and tactics all day but when it gets late and the game is there to be taken he just swans in and takes it like its nothing proper big game merchant
 
You can say what you want about France and how stacked they are, but this is exactly why Mbappé is such a problem for everyone else. The game can be messy, tense, even a bit flat for long spells, then suddenly he shows up and it all changes. That late moment is the sort of thing that breaks teams mentally because they know he only needs one chance and thats it, game over, absolute nightmare to deal with and people will still act surprised every time he does it like he hasnt been doing this for years now
 
Mbappé in this sort of match is a different level. Senegal can feel hard done by, but France have that ability to stay dangerous right to the end. It is exactly why people keep talking about him in record terms and why every late chance feels like it might be the one.
 
france just keep finding a way and mbappe is always the one whos there at the end its mad how many times this happens now and people still act like its luck
 
Nah i dont buy the whole its just mbappe thing because france as a team create the platform for it and senegal were in it for most of it so acting like they got rolled over is a bit much
 
I was in the pub earlier and there was one lad who had spent the whole second half saying France were done and Mbappe had been quiet and then the late goal goes in and the place just erupts into that horrible laughing shouting mix where everyone starts acting like they knew it was coming all along, one bloke near the bar nearly sent his pint over when he jumped up and then he spent the next five minutes pretending he had not been screaming at the telly two minutes before, proper football chaos and it is why these late moments are the best and worst thing about watching with a crowd because suddenly everyone is either a genius or a clown and nobody in between
 
France never really panic in these situations, which is their biggest advantage. Even when the game is tight, they keep enough quality on the pitch to force one decisive action late on. Mbappé is obviously the headline, but the structure around him matters too.
