Messi and Yamal photo coincidence is unreal

i get why people are calling it fate but i dont think that means anything beyond us wanting the story to feel bigger than it is the photo is mad and the timing is mad and thats enough on its own without turning it into some mystical nonsense
 
from a tactical angle the only thing that matters is that both of them became elite in totally different eras and roles and the photo just amplifies the contrast between them so people can project a whole football lineage onto it which is why it lands so hard
 
If the officials had any sense they would be investigating this because how does football keep producing moments like this without someone somewhere having a hand in it, I mean come on, a teenage Messi with baby Yamal and then the whole internet goes into meltdown like it is some kind of cosmic clue and you know what maybe the real conspiracy is that referees and organisers and everyone involved in the game are all just waiting for these storylines to happen so they can sell us the drama and we all eat it up every single time, and then we get people in the replies doing maths like they are proving a murder case and others acting like monks in a temple of destiny and I am sat here wondering if there is any point arguing with anybody because once the football gods have decided to be ridiculous the rest of us are just along for the ride and the officials probably could not even explain it if they tried
 
The photo is doing more work than people realise because it creates a direct visual link between two eras of football. It is not proof of destiny, but it is exactly the sort of image that turns into legend because it is so easy to understand and so hard to forget.
 
I can see both sides here. It is obviously just coincidence, but it is also the kind of coincidence that makes football feel strange and special. You do not need to believe in fate to enjoy how absurd it is.
