Messi has absolutely gone there

Messi’s quote has lit the place up because he’s basically saying the quiet part out loud after Argentina beat England. Whether you think he’s right or just winding people up, he’s not exactly hiding behind politeness here.

You can see why it’s annoying England fans, but you can also see why Argentina fans are loving it. Winning first and talking after is always going to land differently, and this one feels like proper classic Messi needle.

The bigger debate is whether he’s just stating the obvious or rubbing salt in the wound. Either way, it’s got people absolutely fuming and that’s half the fun of it.

Argentinas whole approach was to let england have the shiny bits of possession and then just hurt them when it mattered and that is why all the stat padding in the world means nothing if youre getting outplayed in the areas that decide games

He is obviously enjoying the moment and taking a swipe at the people who doubted them. England can complain about the tone, but they still lost the game and that is the bit that matters tbh

People keep acting like Messi saying this is some outrageous crime but the reality is England spent years getting carried away by their own hype and then when it actually mattered they got exposed again and again and now everyone wants to pretend the quote is the problem not the football, England fans were calling this easy before a ball was kicked and now theyre acting shocked that the world champions came out and said they were better, the funniest part is how every bad result becomes a story about someone else instead of just accepting they were second best, that midfield got overrun, the game management was poor, and yet all anyone will talk about is Messi being smug as if he hasnt earned the right to be smug after everything hes done in the game, absolute nonsense from people who cant take an L

Argentina were comfortable enough to say this because they backed it up on the pitch. England can argue about margins, but if you lose and spend the rest of the game chasing, the better side usually gets to speak like this. That is just football reality.

I can see why England fans hate it, but there is a difference between arrogance and confidence. Argentina have the trophy cabinet and the recent results to support the claim, so this is more needle than nonsense.
