Messi on Yamal: absolute class

Messi being that graceful about Yamal is exactly why he still gets talked about like a proper icon. The whole thing has that weird full-circle feel to it, from a baby photo to the two of them facing each other now, and it just feels mad in the best way.

The crowd yelling over him was a bit grim though, let the man speak for once. It should have been about the football and the moment, not people trying to be funny for a reaction.

Still, you can’t really ask for more than Messi giving Yamal his flowers and keeping it respectful. Proper class from both sides if the game lives up to the hype
 
The officials would probably find a way to ruin the moment as well if they were on the pitch long enough, absolute joke how every big occasion turns into a circus with the ref making himself the main character, letting stupid little fouls go then blowing for nothing when the game gets any bit tense, and the crowd in the background was bad enough without the whole thing being dragged into chaos by people who clearly love the sound of their own whistle
 
Fair play to Messi, that is a very measured thing to say and it keeps the whole story human rather than turning it into some dumb online war, but the more I think about it the more ridiculous the whole modern football circus gets, because every clip becomes a meme, every quote gets clipped, every background noise turns into a talking point, and somehow we end up arguing about who was in the crowd instead of the actual moment, which is mad because the actual moment is already strong enough on its own and doesnt need all the extra nonsense, yet here we are, everyone zooming in on faces and cameras and random celebrities like it matters more than Messi and Yamal sharing this weird full circle thing
 
Messi is just different, even when he is being diplomatic it still lands like a proper moment. Yamal will probably treasure that forever, and it is hard not to admire how Messi keeps giving younger players respect instead of making it about himself imo
 
I honestly got a bit emotional watching that because it feels like football has these tiny weird little time loop moments and then everyone around them is shouting over it like idiots and i just wanted to hear the whole thing properly for once
 
I dont get why people are acting like this is some deep prophecy stuff, its just a nice old photo and two top players meeting later on, not every bit of football history has to be turned into some mystical nonsense and the comments are going way overboard about it
 
It is a very clever answer from Messi because he praises Yamal without making the moment awkward or self-important. He also keeps the focus on the match, which is probably the best way to handle a story like this, because the photo is already strong enough on its own.

The key thing here is that Messi is not just being nice for the cameras, he is also acknowledging Yamal as a genuine top level player and that matters. It turns the whole thing from a novelty into a proper football conversation, which is better than all the circus around it
 
People are acting like Yamal has already been handed some crown and I just think that is massively unfair on him and on the game because he is still a young lad being talked about like he has to carry everything already, and on top of that people are missing the fact that Messi was being respectful and almost protective in the way he spoke, which says a lot about him, because he could have made it about himself or played the whole thing for nostalgia but he didnt, he gave the kid credit and kept it classy, and then you get all the weird crowd noise and the smug posts and the whole thing turns into another online pile on when it should just be a nice football moment and maybe some of you need to calm down and stop making every player into a finished merchant after one bad clip or one silly quote
