That was absolute chaos from start to finish. A World Cup knockout game that ends like that always feels a bit unreal, and this one had the lot: tension, awful penalties, and enough drama to keep everyone arguing for hours.

Netherlands will be kicking themselves after that display, because it looked like they had no real plan beyond hanging on and hoping. Morocco deserve massive credit for staying in it and taking their chance, even if the shootout itself was a mess.

It was one of those games where the result felt huge but the quality was all over the place. Proper World Cup after dark energy, honestly.
 
Koeman had them playing like they were 1 nil up with ten minutes left and needed to kill the game not win it absolute coward ball and then the pens were just the icing on the clown cake tbh
 
I am absolutely done with watching some of these Dutch players take penalties like they have been dragged out of a training cone drill and told to improvise because what was that from them honestly just weak timid little efforts all night and the keeper barely had to do anything half the time because they were hitting them with no conviction at all and people will talk about the shootout but for me the whole thing starts with the attitude before that because if you set up scared you end up taking scared pens and that is exactly what happened here the Netherlands looked like a team that wanted the game to stop existing instead of trying to win it and it showed all the way through
 
nah i dont buy the whole its just pens thing the dutch were passive for ages before that and if you sit in like that you are asking for trouble even if the shootout is random
 
People are going to pile in on the Netherlands for the shootout and fair enough the pens were awful but Morocco deserve way more credit than they are getting because they kept pushing, kept making the game uncomfortable, and never let the Dutch settle into any rhythm at all and that takes discipline and bravery in a knockout game when everyone expects you to panic and fold, they didnt fold, they just stayed in the fight and waited for the moment to take it and then when it got to penalties they looked like the side with more belief which is mad considering how much pressure there was and how much of the crowd and the comments were against them, so yeah the Dutch will hear it for being timid but Morocco earned that win and no one should try and reduce it to just a lottery because they forced the lottery in the first place
 
The biggest issue was the lack of courage from the Netherlands once the game got tight. Morocco were not amazing on the ball either, but they looked more willing to keep going for it and that mattered in the end imo
 
The shape from the Dutch was weird all game they kept dropping off and giving Morocco space to breathe and then acting surprised when the match turned into a scrap, you cant play like that and expect a calm shootout
