Mourinho only needs one line and suddenly the whole room is on edge again. That response is pure Jose, he never misses a chance to turn a routine question into a little power play.

If this is the version we get all season, LaLiga is going to be properly entertaining. Love him or hate him, he still knows how to make himself the main event.

And fair play, there are not many managers around who can make a simple interview feel like a proper showdown. Box office as ever.

I was in the pub last night and there was this old lad at the bar who does a perfect Mourinho impression every time someone says something daft to him he just pauses and says mate do you have a source inside here and the whole table cracks up and honestly this is why Jose will always be box office because even when he is not actually saying much he still makes it feel like he has already won the exchange and half the room is sat there trying not to laugh while the other half is proper offended and that is football entertainment in a nutshell really

Jose has basically turned every interview into a little side quest now, the man cannot help himself and I am here for it because the league gets way more fun when he is in this mood, proper chaos merchant

I think people forget how much of his appeal is the performance as much as the football, he just has that timing where even a throwaway line feels like a headline and it keeps everyone watching tbh

The whole thing is classic Mourinho because he is not really answering the question, he is changing the power dynamic instantly and making the journalist look like the one under pressure, that is why his interviews still land imo

The journalist walked straight into that one and Jose absolutely mugged him off, proper set up job from the first second and everyone acting surprised like this man hasnt been doing the same thing for years

Not sure I buy the idea that he is only entertaining because he is winning, he was still must watch when things were going wrong, just for a different kind of mess and drama

Honestly the officials in football could learn a thing or two from how quickly Mourinho spots a weak point because the way he reads a room is ridiculous and that is before you even get to how many times he ends up in a stare down with the media over the smallest thing, but the referees and the people around them always seem to get away with far more nonsense than managers do, every week it is some new soft booking or ridiculous added time or a decision that changes the whole mood of a game and then everyone just moves on like it is normal, yet the second Jose says one sharp line suddenly it is treated like some huge scandal, absolute joke really

It is easy to laugh at the line, but it also shows why Mourinho still gets so much attention. He understands the theatre of football as well as anyone, and that makes him compelling even when you do not like him. He is always in control of the conversation.
