Bit of a mad one this. Pedro Neto shushing Reece James after being told to track back is the sort of thing that gets clipped and argued over for days, but on the pitch these moments happen all the time and usually mean more in the heat of it than they do five minutes later.

Still, if you are Chelsea it probably does not look great when the captain is having to demand more from a player and the player just gives it back. Some will say it is just competitive football, others will think it is bratty behaviour and a bad look either way.

There is also the usual split between people who think this is nothing and people who think it says everything about a player’s attitude. Neto clearly has ability, but the optics are rough and the reactions are already going everywhere.
 
People acting like this is some huge character flaw are doing my head in because if you actually watch football you know these moments happen in every serious game and then everyone shakes hands after, the losing side needs lads with edge and Neto is one of the few who looks like he cares enough to argue rather than drift about like a passenger, Chelsea fans should be more angry at the whole team for being flat than one heated exchange that got clipped for the internet to farm outrage
 
At face value it looks awful because your captain is asking for work rate and the response is a shush, and yeah that will never play well on a replay. But once you factor in game state, emotion, and how players speak to each other in the middle of a match, it is a lot less dramatic than people are making it. That said, if you are going to act like that you better be backing it up every single week and not wandering around like a tourist when the ball turns over, because otherwise it just looks like petulance and now everyone is going to remember this clip instead of the actual football and honestly that is on him
 
reckon people are overdoing it a bit tbh its just heat of the moment stuff and players say worse every week, still looks silly when your captain is the one telling you to do the basics and you react like that
 
This is exactly why football discourse is cooked because one little clip and suddenly everyone is a body language expert and a dressing room insider and a moral guardian all at once, the lads have just been in a match where emotions are flying and you can hear a captain barking at a winger to get back and the winger gives it back and now the internet wants to turn it into a personality diagnosis, if you have ever kicked a ball in anger you know people say daft stuff and do daft stuff and then move on five minutes later, the only real issue is whether the manager lets this become a thing or whether the squad is strong enough to laugh it off and keep it moving because otherwise people will act like one shush means the whole club is falling apart and that is complete bollocks
 
Neto gets talked up way too much for what he actually does on a pitch and this clip is just another reminder of that, the attitude is always there before the output and he seems to think he is untouchable because he can beat a man or two but then the work rate drops, the body language goes and suddenly he is acting like he is above being told to do the dirty work, and that is the part that annoys people because ability alone does not buy you a free pass to wander about and then shush the captain when he asks for basic effort, he needs to sort himself out because if he keeps carrying on like that he will always be a frustrating player rather than a serious one
 
It looks messy, but it is also the kind of thing that gets sorted quickly in a team. The bigger question is whether Neto backs it up with consistent effort after this.
