Norway getting Brazil in New Jersey on July 5 feels like one of those knockout ties that just grabs you straight away. Haaland vs Gabriel is the obvious headline and it already has that proper World Cup edge to it.

Brazil will probably fancy themselves, but a few people are pointing out Norway have the kind of threat that can make any back line sweat. At the same time, there is a lot of chat that Brazil have the better overall shape and could punish Norway if they leave space.

Either way it feels like the sort of game that could go from tense to absolute scenes very quickly. Proper heritage tie, this one.

The officials are already the biggest worry for me because you just know this kind of game gets loaded with nonsense before kick off and then every little decision turns into a circus, one soft foul one dodgy booking one weird advantage call and suddenly both benches are losing their heads, Brazil and Norway can actually play but the referee and the people in the booth will somehow become the headline again like always and it is proper bollocks because the whole point is to watch Haaland and Gabriel go at it not spend ninety minutes watching some bloke in black make it about himself

Brazil probably have the better balance, but Norway can punish mistakes. It should be close if the game stays open.

people acting like this is some final boss for Brazil when Norway are just a normal team with a big bloke up top and vibes, calm down lads

Brazil fans already doing victory laps like its a training session mate this is exactly how you end up sweating bullets after 20 minutes

It is a genuinely fascinating draw because both sides have been talked about in very different ways. Norway look dangerous enough to make it uncomfortable, while Brazil still feel like the team with more ways to win it.

people are talking like norway are some tiny underdog fairytale but they have enough quality to hurt brazil if brazil switch off and that is exactly why this tie feels so good to watch

Haaland gets all the headlines but Norway as a whole will need more than one big name if they want anything out of this because Brazil can hurt you all over the pitch and if you just sit there waiting for one moment then you are basically asking to get played off the park, still though you cannot ignore the fact that Gabriel and the rest of that back line are going to have a horrible evening if the service is even half decent and that is before you even get into the mental side of it because once the crowd gets going and the game starts swinging the pressure will be ridiculous and people will start losing their heads

Honestly this is exactly the sort of tie that makes a tournament feel alive because you get two nations with totally different expectations and suddenly everyone is pretending they are tactical experts on the internet, Norway will think they can make it ugly and nick it, Brazil will think they can control it and then go for the throat, and in the middle of all that you have Haaland versus Gabriel which is just ridiculous on paper, but the thing that really gets me is how quickly these games can turn into complete chaos when one side scores first and the other starts forcing things and then every pass feels loaded and every clearance feels like it could decide the whole thing and then the takes afterwards will be even worse than the match itself because people will either crown someone or declare them finished in one afternoon
