Paraguay shithousery and a ref with no control

the ref has let it turn into a proper scrap and paraguay are taking the piss now, every stoppage is another chance for some nonsense and nobody is stepping in to say enough is enough, its just a mess
 
France need to stop getting dragged into the nonsense and keep the ball moving, because the more stoppages and confrontations there are the more Paraguay get what they want. If you force them to defend and actually play, the whole ugly plan falls apart
 
The referee has to set a standard early in matches like this. If he does not, players will keep testing the limits and the game becomes impossible to manage. That is exactly what we are seeing here.
 
I can understand why neutrals are turning against Paraguay, but the bigger issue is that the officiating has allowed the whole thing to deteriorate. Both can be true at once.
 
It feels like the sort of match where one booking early would have changed everything and maybe stopped the whole thing spiralling, tbh
