Paul Pogba Monaco debut vs Rennes after 811 days out Ligue 1 return reaction

Rabiot discourse always cracks me up. Every tournament he plays fine for the national team, scores a header or two, does his job. People see his club drama and forget the national team performances.

Kante for France still looked like Kante. Even from Saudi he turned up in Euro 2024 and looked like he had never left top level. I get why fans keep saying just get the band back together one more time.

Camavinga and Tchouameni as the future pivot is terrifying if they ever stay fully fit. Add a bench role Pogba who is actually match ready and that midfield rotation would be disgusting for opponents.

From a punting angle I am not overrating a five minute cameo though. Market will love the story, but sample size is nothing. Nice narrative, nothing more for now.

Someone in that convo said he has not even completed a full season in years. If your minutes are that fragmented, the body simply is not reliable. That is usually when I stop backing long term player props.

The Teddy Smith joke killed me. Every clip now I am squinting at the shirt number eight and thinking wait, is that actually Pogba or the legendary Teddy Smith back again.

Low key love how many people just wrote pogback with no further analysis. Sometimes it is fine to just enjoy a player you liked back on a pitch without spreadsheets.

The doping line about heroic return made me laugh and wince at the same time. It is still a ban, still his responsibility, but you can also be happy to see a talented player not end on a treatment table clip.

If you look only at honours it feels weird to call his career a waste. Multiple Serie A titles, Europa, World Cup. But relative to the ceiling people projected, it does feel like we only saw 60 percent of what he could have been.

From all the names mentioned, Griezmann might be the most underrated internationally. Euros, World Cups, and still people talk more about his club mess than those insane tournament runs.

That Rennes ovation in a 4 0 game is also a little lesson for us bettors. Emotion in the stadium is not always about scoreline. Sometimes narrative and player history carry more weight than the live score.

I kind of get the guy who said anyone with half a brain knows he is not reaching that level again. Harsh wording, but if you remove nostalgia and look at age plus absence, probabilities are brutal.

On the other hand you have that United fan saying he just wants to see him kill it again because the world deserves it. That is the emotional side you cannot model but it is why we watch.

For in play markets I am more interested in how Monaco adapts overall. Their defence sounds horrendous from what French fans described. That is where you look for overs or both teams to score, not only at Pogba.

Rennes fans being called kind made me smile. Someone brought up Rongier and how he went from hated comments to captain. That kind of arc probably helped them be chill about Pogba too.

Also funny that someone reminded us of Le Havre producing Mahrez, Pogba and Payet. That academy quietly built some serious technique over the years.

The guy saying farmers farming and Pogba being a shiny refurbished tractor was elite comment quality. Ligue 1 memes always go back to farmers but there is some serious ball in that league.

As a Liverpool fan it is nice to see even rival fanbases soften on him a bit. When you watch him for France and Juve at his peak you cannot deny he made football more fun.

For those asking how he actually played, answer was basically fine. Five minutes, some safe passes, one tackle, Monaco score a goal after he comes on. That is more than enough for a first step.

From data view, if he gets 10 to 15 minute cameos for a month you still ignore every prop. Once he starts hitting 60 to 70 regularly then we talk about expected assists, key passes lines and all that.
