Pep to leave City? Absolute scenes

Everyone in here celebrating like City are suddenly a Sunday league side is mad to me because Pep leaving does not erase what he has done and it does not magically make the rest of the league better overnight, he has built standards there for a decade and whoever takes over is inheriting a serious machine and a squad that already knows how to win, so all this talk about the devil being gone is pure fantasy from people who have spent years getting rattled by them and now want to pretend one man was the entire problem when the whole club has been elite for ages
 
City fans will be terrified of the reset because Pep has been the one constant for so long, and even if Maresca is well thought of it is a massive leap to go from promising coach to inheriting this level of pressure. tbh
 
Analytically this makes sense if Pep feels the cycle is complete, because ten years is an absurd stretch for any modern manager and the club has probably had this succession plan in mind for a while with Maresca in the frame. But emotionally it still feels like a proper earthquake, because you cannot separate City from Pep and you cannot separate the league from the way he has warped everyone else into reacting to him, and now the whole thing becomes a giant soap opera and I swear if City somehow come out of this still dominant I will lose my mind
 
Was in the pub earlier and there was a bloke at the bar absolutely adamant Pep was done because he had seen some little rumour on his phone and everyone was telling him to calm down and now this comes out and he is going to be unbearable all week, proper mate of mine was saying the same thing about how the league would finally be free and I just kept thinking football fans are all the same we hear one whisper and turn it into gospel then when it lands we act like prophets, absolute nonsense but I cant lie I am buzzing to see the meltdown from both sides
 
This is the kind of thing that changes the tone of a whole summer, because once a manager like Pep is linked with leaving people start overreacting to everything around the club and every result gets a new meaning. It also makes the Maresca story feel massive whether people rate him or not, and honestly I am already fed up of the endless takes that will come out of this because everyone will suddenly become an expert on succession planning and club culture and it will be bloody exhausting
 
cant lie i thought hed stay longer but if its true then fair enough hes done enough and city will still be a problem no matter who takes over
 
So now everyone is acting like they knew it was coming when half this place would have been calling you mad for even suggesting Pep might walk away this summer and thats what annoys me about football discourse every single time something big happens suddenly there are ten thousand geniuses saying they saw it all along and that the league is saved and that City are finished and that Maresca is either a genius or a fraud before he has even unpacked his bags and honestly it is just exhausting because the only real certainty here is that the takes are going to be absolutely unbearable for the next six months
 
You lot are acting like the title race has been handed back on a silver plate and thats exactly why football fans are so easy to wind up because one report drops and suddenly every club is winning the league in their heads and City are apparently finished and Pep is running scared and the whole thing is some moral victory when in reality the squad is still full of quality and the next guy could walk in and keep them ticking just fine so maybe take a breath before you start printing banners
