Three Golden Gloves in a row for David Raya is some achievement, and it feels like the kind of thing that only gets more impressive the more you think about it. Arsenal fans will obviously point to the clean sheets, but the comments here keep coming back to the same thing: his all-round game, his distribution, and how much he gives them beyond just stopping shots.

There is also the usual Spain question hanging over it, because somehow he still is not the starter there. That is pretty mad when you see the level he has shown for Arsenal. Whether you think the award is the right way to judge keepers or not, there is no denying he has had a huge season and a lot of people now see him as one of the best in the world.

The other angle is how much this says about Arsenal as a team. A clean sheet award is never just about the goalkeeper, and the way people are talking here makes it clear the whole back line deserves credit too. Still, Raya gets the spotlight, and fair play to him for taking it again.

People keep acting like Raya is just stood there collecting easy clean sheets because of the back four and honestly its bollocks, the bloke has bailed Arsenal out so many times this season with saves he had no business making and yet every time someone wants to downplay him they act like any keeper could do it, no chance, you can see the confidence he gives the whole side, the way he claims crosses, the way he starts attacks, the calmness under pressure, all of it matters and if you actually watched properly you would know he has been miles better than the Ramsdale debate ever suggested, that whole argument looks embarrassing now
 
I dont care what anyone says the people trying to make this all about the defence are missing the point completely because yes Arsenal are good at the back but Raya still has to do his job and he has done it at an insane level all season, the amount of pressure he deals with, the way he sweeps, the way he commands the box, it all feeds into the team being this solid and it is ridiculous that some people still talk about him like he is just a passenger, he has been one of the reasons they have stayed in games and the fact he still gets questioned by some is honestly mad, proper keeper, proper season, end of
 
The real value is not just the clean sheets, it is how Raya changes Arsenal’s build-up from the back. He gives them a safer first pass and helps them sustain pressure, which is why the defensive numbers look so strong. That is why this award feels deserved even beyond the obvious shot-stopping.
 
It is probably both things at once. Arsenal’s structure has helped him, but he has also clearly lifted the level of the team.
 
nah i dont buy this whole hes only good because of the defenders thing, if that was true then every keeper behind a decent back line would look the same and they dont, raya has clearly added something extra with his positioning and his composure and the way he deals with pressure, people just want an easy way to dismiss him because they were wrong about the ramsdale switch
 
A clean sheet record is never pure luck, but the whole side has clearly bought into the system.
 
the way people still talk about him like hes some stop gap is mad because hes been one of the most reliable players in the league all season and every week he just keeps proving the same point over and over
