Ronaldo skips silver medal ceremony

i genuinely dont even hate him for it i just find it embarrassing because he is so obviously aware of how it will look and still does it anyway like he cant help himself and that is what makes it funny and sad at the same time

It is understandable to be angry after a final, especially for someone as driven as Ronaldo. But refusing to collect the medal makes the reaction bigger than the defeat itself, and that is why people keep talking about it.

nah i dont buy the whole he is just emotional thing because if every player acted like this the ceremony would be a joke and the squad would look ridiculous, there is a minimum standard of professionalism and he chose not to meet it

He has built a career on being the most relentless competitor in the room, so when he reacts like this it almost becomes part of the brand whether he wants it to or not. That is the strange thing with him, because one minute people are praising the mentality and the next minute he does something like this and it all turns into a lecture about ego and maturity and honestly both sides have a point, but at some stage you do have to ask why the same story keeps repeating and why he always looks like the loss personally insulted him, because it does feel like he cannot just take a defeat without making it dramatic and that is why everyone is piling in now and probably will keep doing it until he finally stops giving them the same clip over and over again

People keep acting like this is just one bad night but it is really just another entry in the long list of Ronaldo making everything about Ronaldo, whether it is the body language, the sulking, the face after a missed chance, the refusal to accept that not everything bends around him, and this time it is the medal thing, next time it will be something else, same old routine, same childish nonsense, and I swear if I had to play with him I would be absolutely sick of it because how many times can one man make a defeat feel like a personal insult to the rest of the squad before everyone else starts tuning out, he is a brilliant footballer but the attitude is just relentless and tiring and at this point it is basically a full time job watching him get offended by reality

There is a difference between being disappointed and making a point of disappearing. This was always going to read as petulant, and that is why the reaction has been so strong.

he knows exactly what hes doing and thats the annoying part because it turns every loss into a little theatre piece and then everyone has to talk about his mood instead of the actual game which is probably what he wants anyway
