Ronaldo’s “probation” ban from FIFA

Someone in that thread basically wrote out the whole ladder of fake punishments and it still fits how toothless this feels.
 
If another player ever tries to appeal a straight three game ban now, they will point to this and ask where their probation is, good luck to FIFA explaining that away.
 
And the appeals will go nowhere because it is a dictatorship structure, yet they still created a precedent on paper that looks like it should apply to everyone.
 
The explanation post about how the code says one automatic game plus three for violent conduct and that elbow is literally the example in the rule is doing all the heavy lifting here, it is damning.
 
Once someone quoted the actual FIFA text the whole thing looked even worse, they just decided the law does not apply to him.
 
People are even doing maths on what happens if he two foots someone in the group stage, five games out in theory, and we all know in practice they would never stack it like that 😂
 
The logistics questions are so funny, if he does something similar does he get the new ban plus the two deferred games, or do they find another creative loophole, nobody trusts them to apply anything honestly.
 
This is why fans say the game feels like WWE now, you start calculating suspensions like storyline booking instead of actual law.
 
Realistically if he has another big incident the refs will probably just pretend it is not red level, easier than triggering their own Frankenstein punishment system.
 
they created the most hilarious possible future where in the first game he does something braindead and either they look corrupt by ignoring it or stupid by banning him for half the tournament lol
 
I actually hope some opponent just keeps rattling him, because if he snaps and they still protect him it will show the whole world how fake this probation line is.
 
Fans are even half joking about other teams refusing to play if he is on the pitch, that is how little faith there is in the process.
 
The Irish angle hurts as well, first the way that match went and now the elbow basically gets turned into a delayed maybe punishment, you could see a lot of bitterness in those comments.
 
Trump jokes everywhere too, people talking about executive orders and presidential pardons for elbows, it honestly fits the whole clown show vibe.
 
There is literally a comment asking if Trump threatened to nuke Dublin if Ronaldo missed the opener, peak r soccer energy.
 
You have people saying they will still be online in forty years trying to get the emails released about what really happened between Trump, Infantino and Ronaldo for this world cup, which is hilarious and depressing.
 
fifa, trump and ronaldo in the same sentence is just the most cursed triangle and this ban fits perfectly into that stupid little universe
 
Even when someone brings up precedents like Koscielny in 2014 or the Canada USA Mexico friendly arrangement, those were still cleaner and more collective than this made to measure decision.
 
The Shaffelburg thing was at least negotiated up front for host nations, this one feels like they hacked the rules after the crime just to save a headline name 😂
 
People saying the game is gone like WWE are not wrong, especially when you stack this on top of ever expanding tournaments designed so that big names never go out early.
