It is probably a harmless mistake, but the reaction is understandable given the context. People were already waiting for a reason to pile in.
 
i swear every time i open football stuff now its another player liking the wrong post or some manager getting cooked by a random instagram caption and i know it probably means nothing but it still gets under your skin a bit because the argentina thing already had everyone wound up and now this just adds another layer to the madness and you can almost hear the arguments starting before anyone has even finished reading it
 
nah people saying it means nothing are missing the point a bit because even if he didnt read the caption the fact that it lands right after all the tuchel talk is why everyone is reacting to it and thats just how football works now tbh
 
There is a decent chance this was nothing more than a careless tap on an image, and if that is the case then people are definitely making more of it than they should. But football is never just about the immediate action, it is about the context around it, and right now the context is that Tuchel is already under pressure for the Argentina call and people are looking for any sign that the players are not fully on board. So of course a post like this becomes massive, of course everyone starts choosing sides, and of course the whole thing gets turned into another chapter in the endless social media nonsense that surrounds the game. It is stupid, it is funny, it is probably overblown, and I am still going to spend the next hour refreshing comments because I am a complete mug
 
I am genuinely sick of the way people are talking about Tuchel as if one awkward selection decision means he is some sort of fraud because that is not how football works and anyone who has actually watched a tournament knows that managers make calls based on fitness, shape, balance, the opponent, all of it, and people only start shouting when it does not come off, Saka not playing against Argentina has become this giant stick to beat him with and now one random Instagram like is being used like it is some kind of confession, which is ridiculous, and the annoying part is that it completely ignores how hard it is to manage big players, keep a squad together and make the right call in the moment, so yes maybe the optics are bad, but the pile on is even worse and I will defend the bloke on that because the internet loves a scapegoat
