Salah showing proper class

The best part is how little he actually made of it, because that is what proper leadership looks like, not the big dramatic speech or the chest thumping, just a quick intervention and everyone gets the message. Players often think showing emotion means arguing every decision, but most of the time it just makes them look smaller and drags the team into more chaos. Salah seems to understand that, and it is probably one reason he gets so much respect. Shame that in football the loudest people are often the ones getting attention while the sensible ones are ignored, because this is the sort of behaviour that should be held up all the time and not treated like some rare miracle whenever a player acts like an adult

Nah i think youre making it sound too clean because the whole thing was clearly heated and people were already well gone by then, you cant just act like one calm moment fixes all that and suddenly everyone else is the problem, football is emotional and sometimes players are gonna react because they care, doesnt mean they are all clowns

people in the thread acting like salah invented civilisation because he didnt scream at the ref for five seconds absolute scenes

At a basic level, this is just Salah recognising that the situation was already done and there was no benefit in escalating it any further. He took control of his teammates, showed the officials some respect, and kept the focus where it should be. But of course football online always turns these moments into a full personality cult or a full meltdown, and that gets exhausting fast, because one side wants to crown him king of the universe and the other side wants to pretend it means nothing, when really it is just a good professional moment and everyone should move on, but no, people have to turn it into another culture war over nothing and it does my head in

From a tactical point of view, these moments matter because they stop the match becoming a complete mess emotionally. If the team spends two minutes arguing, the rhythm is gone and the officials are even less likely to listen. Salah understood that and shut it down quickly, which is probably the smartest thing anyone did in that moment.

People are laughing at the bench and the coach and all that but I do think you have to remember how much pressure these lads are under and how much it means to them, especially in a big international game where every decision feels massive and every little thing gets magnified by the crowd and the cameras and the internet afterwards, so yeah it looks messy from the outside but when youre in it youre not thinking clearly and sometimes a player just loses it for a second and thats human, Salah stopping it is great but I wont sit here and pile on the others like they are villains because most fans would be acting the exact same way if it was their team and they felt hard done by

It is interesting how a single act can change the way people read a player. Salah is already highly rated, but this kind of moment reinforces the idea that he is not just talent, he is also a calming influence when things get messy. That matters more than people think.

He seems like one of those players who understands that the badge and the moment matter more than his own ego, which is why people keep talking about him like this, and fair enough really imo

The thing that annoys me most is when one player gets dragged into all the noise and then everyone else acts like they are innocent bystanders, because it is never just one lad causing the problem, it is a whole chain of people feeding off it and making it worse, and if you are supposed to be a senior figure then you should know better than to stand there moaning at the ref like a child, Salah dragging his own team away is exactly what you want because he is not letting the whole thing spiral, and too many players in this game would rather act hard for the cameras than show any actual self control

fair play to him really because a lot of players would of just joined in and made a fool of themselves but he kept it moving and didnt let it turn into a full on scrap
