Tottenham going 5-0 up against Charlton and Ben Davies getting the fifth is a proper random one, but fair play to him. The reaction in the thread is mostly all about Savio though, because it sounds like he’s somehow nicked the spotlight again after a second G/A mention.

Feels like the whole thing has turned into a running joke about City fans, Spurs fans and everyone else arguing over who the goal should belong to. Some are calling it an unbelievable Davies goal, others are acting like it was basically Savio’s anyway.

Either way, it’s one of those nights where the scoreline is doing the talking and the comments section is pure chaos. Spurs fans will obviously be buzzing, Charlton fans will not be enjoying the evening, and the rest of r/soccer are just taking the piss as usual.

Savio has absolutely taken the piss here and honestly I am sick of people pretending this is some random fluke or lucky bounce when the lad is clearly involved in everything, he keeps popping up in these moves and people still want to call him useless and finished like he hasnt been carrying the whole attacking flow, the way he drifts, links, forces chances and gets blamed for every miss is mad, Ben Davies gets the finish and fair enough but the whole thing starts with Savio again and the amount of nonsense slander he got before this is embarrassing

savio has them all looking silly again and now everyones acting like they never said he was finished lol the same lot who called him a flop last week are suddenly celebrating the link up like its their own genius opinion

this is exactly why you should never listen to this sub when they decide a player is garbage after five minutes because the same people who were chatting absolute rubbish about savio are now trying to rewrite it like they always rated him and its hilarious watching the goal get claimed by everyone except the bloke who actually finished it

The interesting bit here is not just the goal itself but how quickly the discussion has shifted to Savio again. It shows how much attention his involvement is drawing, even when Ben Davies is the one who finishes the move. That kind of link-up can become important if it keeps repeating.

i cant lie this has proper made my night because the comments are just ridiculous and every single one is arguing about savio like he personally scored five and then walked off with the match ball when ben davies has just quietly done the business and everyone still cant stop chatting absolute nonsense

The main thing for me is how the attacking patterns seem to be creating easy chances rather than forcing them. When a fullback like Davies gets the final touch at 85 minutes, that usually means the move has dragged defenders around well and the wide players have done their job even if the credit gets bounced around

Tottenham being 5-0 up and Ben Davies getting the fifth is already funny enough, but the way everyone in the comments has turned it into a Savio referendum is even better. You can see why people are buzzing because he keeps showing up in the decisive moments and that will always get fans talking. Still, it is proper daft how quickly a player goes from being written off to being treated like some sort of saviour after one more involvement, and the whole thing feels like a classic internet overreaction where nobody wants to just enjoy the goal for what it is and everyone has to make it a manifesto about who was right all along and who was chatting bollocks, which is basically football discourse now and it never changes and it drives me up the wall because one minute he is a joke and the next minute he is the future and people act like those two opinions were never both said in the same week
