Switzerland edge Colombia on pens

Everyone was acting like Colombia were going to stroll through this and now theyve been sent home after a penalty shootout and all the big talk has gone quiet very quickly, absolutely love to see it
 
I had this on and by the end I was just sat there with my head in my hands because it felt like every time Colombia got close they found a way not to finish it and then the shootout just made everything worse and I know people call these matches exciting but this was more like stress with a scoreboard and I genuinely felt drained watching the whole thing
 
People are being way too harsh on Colombia here because they were not some disaster of a team, they were in the game, they had chances, they kept it tight and they made Switzerland work for every bit of it and that matters, tournament football is not about looking pretty for long stretches it is about surviving and then taking your moment and they just did not get that final bit right, which is frustrating but does not mean they were miles off or somehow embarrassing themselves, they just lost a brutal knockout game on penalties and sometimes that is all there is to it and everyone piling on like they were hopeless is just lazy
 
Switzerland were the calmer side in the key moments, and that is often enough in a shootout. Colombia may feel unlucky, but the missed chances before pens made the difference.
