Tah goal ruled out after keeper block

Germany got caught making the sort of contact that officials are increasingly willing to punish. The key issue is not the amount of force, but the fact that the keeper is impeded before he can make a play on the ball. If that standard is applied consistently, the decision makes sense.

you can argue about softness all day but the moment he puts hands on the keeper its asking for trouble and the ref has a clean reason to pull it back set pieces are already full of nonsense so if they are finally cracking down on this then fair enough

At first glance I thought it was one of those ridiculous calls that kills the game, because it happens so quickly and the goal makes everyone react before they have even seen the contact properly. But once you watch it again, the keeper is clearly being interfered with and Tah is not exactly innocent in the whole thing. I still think some refs let far worse go every weekend, which is why people are so angry, but this is the sort of moment where players have to be smarter and not give the official an easy decision and now everyone is losing their heads over it and honestly I get why because the inconsistency is maddening

This is a classic case of the laws punishing obstruction rather than a heavy challenge. The contact itself is not the main point; it is the effect on the goalkeeper's movement. If officials are strict on this, then the decision is defensible even if it feels harsh.

People keep acting like Germany deserved that goal to stand just because it looked dramatic on the replay but the losing side have every right to feel robbed here because the keeper goes down far too easily and the contact is nowhere near enough for the sort of outrage in these comments, if anything the attacking player is just trying to compete and the keeper is making the most of it and thats the bit nobody wants to admit because everyone loves a dramatic disallowed goal when its not their team getting punished and now its all games gone and this sport is dead nonsense when really the defending side got the rough end of it

I think the call is harsh, but it is not outrageous. The bigger issue is that fans see similar contact ignored all the time, so any decision like this feels random.

i get why people are annoyed but if you start wrapping your arms around the keeper then you are basically begging for a whistle and then acting shocked when it comes back off the board like come on lads use your heads for once
