That is fair enough because FIFA always manages to make even normal news feel corporate and slightly ridiculous. Then again, I also think football fans online are addicted to reducing everything to one-line jokes, so maybe the McDonalds reply is less about FIFA and more about how impossible it is to have a straight conversation on here without someone immediately going full meme mode and derailing the whole thing into a joke about fast food and usual suspects and honestly I cant even complain because half the time that is the funniest part
 
At a basic level the post is just a qualification update and there is not really much to dissect beyond that, but the reaction tells you a lot about how football content works online because people are far more interested in the tone and the joke than the actual information, and that is fine up to a point, then it starts feeling like every discussion gets flattened into the same few memes and all nuance disappears, which is annoying because there are actual teams here who have earned their place and people are acting like the whole thing is some kind of corporate punchline, and maybe it is, but it is also football and football deserves a bit more than just McDonalds jokes every single time, although having said that I still laughed because it is such a ridiculous top comment that you almost have to respect the commitment to the bit even if FIFA are a bunch of clowns
 
fifa always makes everything feel more dramatic than it needs to be and then the comments just end up dragging it back down to earth anyway its basically the same cycle every time

Honestly I think people are reading too much into the meme replies, because the actual post is just a straightforward qualified teams update and the jokes are more about how football Reddit works than about the teams themselves, which is fair enough really since FIFA always invites a bit of taking the piss imo
