The comments are more entertaining than the announcement itself. That probably says enough about how people feel about the whole thing.
 
Saw this while waiting for my takeaway and just started laughing because the whole thing felt so internet football, like FIFA drop something official and the first reaction is just McDonalds and then you get the usual suspects line and suddenly the actual post is irrelevant, I did not even care who qualified I was just reading the replies and thinking yeah thats the sport online now
 
It suggests the qualification picture was pretty conventional. That usually means the real debate moves to who gets grouped with who rather than who made it through.
 
I get why people are saying it is all a bit predictable, and to be fair the top comments are basically memeing the whole thing into the ground, but that is also what makes these threads funny because nobody is pretending to be above it, everyone knows exactly what kind of post it is and they just lean into the joke, and then you get the same old crowd acting like the world has ended because the qualified teams look familiar, which honestly is just football internet in a nutshell and probably always will be, but even then I still think there is something weirdly satisfying about seeing the list come together because at least you know where everything stands and can start arguing properly about the tournament instead of pretending there was ever going to be some massive shock and yeah FIFA will still make it look like a corporate presentation from another planet because of course they will, absolute clowns
 
People calling it boring are missing the point a bit because for a lot of these nations qualifying is the whole achievement, it is not about some glamorous Reddit moment or whether the top comment is funny enough, it is about getting the job done and representing your country in the tournament and that matters loads more than the internet acting like every list has to be a shocker to be worth anything, and honestly the usual suspects being there is usually because they have the structure, the depth, and the experience to do it properly so I do not get the sneering at all, some of these teams have had to grind for years to get here and people reduce it to a meme in two seconds which is a bit unfair if you ask me
 
FIFA really thought they had cooked with this and the comments immediately turned it into McDonalds and usual suspects, absolutely bodied
 
The thread is mostly jokes, but that is pretty normal for a post like this. The actual football discussion usually comes later.
 
What annoys me most is when people act like the teams themselves are somehow boring just because they qualify consistently, because that ignores all the work and pressure behind getting there and it also ignores how hard it is to keep that level up across different cycles, and then you get the lazy takes about one player or one federation being the reason everything is the same when really the whole thing is far more complicated than that, but of course the internet goes straight for the easy joke and everyone piles on the same line over and over and over and it turns into this weird little pile on where nobody actually talks about football, which is exactly why I cannot stand these threads sometimes because they always end up being a load of noise and people pretending they know better when really they are just repeating themselves and taking the piss because thats easier than admitting the teams are good
 
I dont think the jokes mean people are actually bothered by the list, theyre just responding to how the post is framed and the fact that FIFA always makes everything feel overproduced, so the humour is kind of inevitable rather than a sign that the qualification itself is pointless
