Türkiye’s winner and Pulisic getting cooked

Saw the alternate angles of Türkiye’s winner and it really does make the whole thing look even nastier. Pulisic gets left in a bad spot and once the move is on, you can see why people are saying he got cooked there.

There’s also that bit of context about Arda trying the meg on the play before, which makes the whole sequence even more cheeky. Feels like one of those moments where the attacker is absolutely buzzing and the defender is thinking not again mate

Either way, it’s a proper little bit of football banter and one of those clips that gets replayed because the angles make it look even more brutal than the live view

Arda really saw him once and thought yeah im having another go at that lad and then the whole thing just spirals into absolute scenes because Pulisic is probably already fuming by then

A fair point is that the second angle always makes the sequence feel more dramatic than it probably looked in real time, because you can actually see the spacing and the little hesitation that opens everything up. But once you start talking about it you end up thinking about how defenders get punished for one bad read and then the whole crowd acts like the bloke has forgotten how to play football. It reminds me of those games where one touch changes the mood of the entire stadium and suddenly everyone is a tactical genius from the stands, even though half of them were still in the queue for a drink when the move started. Football does that all the time, one clip and people are rewriting the entire match narrative

not gonna lie i watched it back about five times and every time it just gets worse for him in my head like you can almost feel the embarrassment through the screen and thats before even thinking about the banter from the lads afterwards

People are acting like Pulisic has been personally humiliated by the laws of football here but defenders get exposed all the time and it does not mean the player is done or clueless or whatever lazy nonsense people want to throw out after one clip the whole sequence is built on a tiny moment of hesitation and once that happens at this level you are basically dead because the attacker has already committed and the rest is just the punishment, and fair play to Türkiye because they took the chance and made it count, but the way some fans talk you would think the defender should have been able to teleport across and stop it, which is just not how the game works at all

The replay definitely makes the goal look sharper, but it is still just one moment in a game. Pulisic was caught badly, yet that does not make it some grand meltdown.

Honestly the officials always manage to make these moments feel messier than they need to be because once the play is live everyone is trying to work out what happened and half the time the camera angles only make the confusion worse, and then the pundits pile in like they have discovered some secret truth when really it is just a split second where a defender gets turned and the whole thing opens up, but the way people start screaming about it you would think someone had literally waved the attacker through with a red carpet and a whistle in his hand, absolute joke sometimes

Pulisic has to be better there full stop, he gets dragged into the wrong space and then it is panic stations and by the time he reacts the damage is done, and that is the sort of thing that keeps getting highlighted because he is always the one in the clip when it goes wrong, whether people like it or not

thats just a brutal angle tbh the way it opens up makes it look like he has no clue what is coming and once the move starts theres no recovering from that
