United land Tielemans for £35m

I dont really buy the idea that this is some genius bargain that changes everything because a release clause at £35m can still be expensive if the fit is off and people are acting like he is guaranteed to transform the midfield when really hes just a good player at a decent price and that is all it is, not some miracle and not some robbery either

From a tactical point of view, this looks like a neat fit if United want more control in midfield. Tielemans gives them passing range and composure, and at £35m the fee is reasonable for a player who already knows the league. The bigger question is what sort of runner or destroyer they put next to him.

It feels like one of those transfers that makes sense on every level unless the player completely fails to adapt, which is always possible. Still, at the price quoted, there is very little downside and thats why people are calling it smart business imo

People are going to talk about the fee but honestly the bigger issue is how long United have been crying out for a midfielder who can actually play football instead of just running around like a headless chicken and Tielemans feels like the kind of player who should have been obvious years ago and yet here we are acting amazed that a club finally noticed a sensible target and paid a sensible amount and if he ends up being half as good as people say then some other lads in that squad are going to look absolutely embarrassing because theyve been getting away with murder for too long

This looks like a sensible piece of business on paper, especially given how inflated fees have become. He should add quality and depth without forcing United into another massive gamble. The only concern is whether the move is being sold as more than it is.

If they use him properly he can help them keep the ball and link play better but it depends on the rest of the midfield because one tidy passer alone does not fix a broken structure and if they keep leaving gaps behind him then itll look pointless very quickly

For United, the attraction is obvious: a proven midfielder at a fixed price with no auction. For Villa, the frustration is just as obvious because losing a standout player through a clause always feels harsh. The market makes it logical, even if it still stings.
