Van Dijk handball that gave PSV the pen

The whole reddit chat about "VVD having a tenner on a pen" and "part of a betting scandal" is obviously jokes but the clip really does look that bad 😂. From a Barca fan watching Araujo doing similar madness the night before, it is like defenders are in some competition for the dumbest handball of the week.

ngl i am siding with the people saying he is just having a meltdown. that thread, especially the "vvd needs a psychologist" comment, nails it. feels more like a broken player than a mastermind sabotaging slot.

BRO RAISED HIS HAND LIKE HE WAS ANSWERING A QUESTION IN CLASS AND THEN TRIED TO GASLIGHT THE REF 😂. all the "this is the higher level of football" quotes are aging like milk.

reading those comments you can tell everyone is more annoyed by the reaction than the handball. like the guy saying "just own it". if VVD shrugs and walks away nobody does a 3000 comment post. instead he acts like the victim and now it is one of the all time meme clips.

Hard to argue with the people saying he should have been benched already. Too many individual errors this season and this is just the loudest one.

liverpool last year felt like free money first half of the season. now you look at that reddit thread, see "are we witnessing liverpool downfall" comments and vvd doing aura keeping, and you realise you cannot touch them in an acca right now.

THE MOST DAMNING THING IS THAT EVEN LIVERPOOL FANS IN THAT THREAD ARE LAUGHING AT HIM. WHEN YOUR OWN PEOPLE START QUOTING "LEAVE FOOTBALL BEFORE IT LEAVES YOU" AND "THIS KILLS THE SLOT" YOU ARE FINISHED AT ELITE LEVEL. THAT HAND BALL WILL BE REPLAYED FOR YEARS.

bro really thought the champions league uses the same "sleeve rule" vibes people joke about in the prem. man slaps the ball away, then acts like it hit his aura instead. var had a day off here because the ref already knew.

Theres a comment in that thread saying "this handball is so ridiculous I might call it unprofessional" and honestly that is where I landed too. Like what are we doing man. Slot has his flaws but 4 0 at PSV with your captain auditioning for NBA is next level clown show.

What I liked from the comments was the one guy explaining the law calmly. Penalty every day, not a red because it is not really denying an immediate goal, and because of the whole double punishment change. Meanwhile half the thread is screaming for a straight red just because it "looks stupid". Feeling dumb should not be a sending off.

You could almost see this coming from the way he has been talking. When you go at Rooney after one win and then spend the season making "all timer brainfart" moments, the variance is going to hit you. That clip is variance plus ego all rolled into one.

Also funny how the same fanbase spent years calling him the best CB ever and now you have Liverpool fans in that thread typing "van Disney" and "washed king". Internet does not do half measures. One week Maldini, next week meme merchant.

I liked the comparison one commenter made with players who grab the ball assuming they got a free kick. This is the aerial version. He expects the foul, raises his hand to make sure the ref sees it and forgets the ball is still in play. Terrible decision, but consistent with ego, not with anything like fixing.

If you rewatch the angle Reddit used and slow it down like some of them mentioned, you can actually see his eyes track the ball all the way until it hits his hand. That is why the "he never saw it" excuse from some comments does not land for me. He absolutely saw it, he just assumed the whistle would bail him out.

The guy who wrote "his arm was in the silhouette of the Air Jordan logo" deserves an award 😂. That whole sub decided in two minutes that they are done with the "never dribbled past" propaganda. You cannot twerk defend one week and play volleyball the next.

From a neutral betting side I am just glad I stayed away. Imagine needing Liverpool to finish a combo and your last memory is Virgil doing Shaq vs layup hand up. Some of those "what was he thinking" comments felt written from pure gambling pain 😂.

kinda agree with the redditor saying "anything is a handball these days" just to troll. this one is so blatant it almost feels too easy for the ref. you do not even need var.

The best little detail is the guy who said he was expecting some contentious call and instead sees VVD just palming it like Scholes in 2008. That is honestly the feeling when you click those clips. You expect a ten replay controversy and you get Sunday league level defending.

Statistically speaking, that one action has probably done more damage to his perception than any goal he has ever conceded. A single viral clip in the age of social media, especially with a Reddit thread like that attached, will dominate the narrative long after people forget most of his good games.

im still laughing at the "this is not r nba" comment. they really turned a serious champions league night into meme central. vvd, araujo, romero, all trying to win clown of the week. if i am slot i walk into training with a volleyball just to make the point.
