I dont get the people saying this is some amazing move because if you actually watched him you would know he can be a nightmare when the ball is at his feet and thats not a tiny issue for a team trying to control games so yes he can tackle and yes he can recover well but that alone does not make him some elite modern fullback
Wan-Bissaka should help Villa in situations where they need to defend wide areas and survive pressure. The bigger test will be how much the team can hide his weaker moments in possession while still using his strengths properly.
honestly this is one of those moves where people will laugh now and then six months later act like they knew it would work all along because emery gets a tune out of lads like this and villa fans will be saying hes a steal while everyone else pretends they never called him limited
There is a logic to it if Villa want more defensive security from the fullback area. At the same time, he is still a player with obvious limitations, so the success of the move probably depends on how much responsibility Emery asks of him.
People are acting like Villa have signed some busted old cast off when really Wan-Bissaka is still a very useful defender and if you are trying to protect your box then he is exactly the sort of player you want because he can go one v one with almost anyone and make attackers look completely stupid and that matters even if he is not some silky ball playing superstar and honestly the way some fans speak about him is ridiculous like yes he has flaws yes he is not perfect yes he can look awkward when asked to do too much but that does not mean he is useless and it is proper disrespectful how quickly people write off a lad because he does not fit their fantasy football idea of what a fullback should be
