West Ham have announced the loan signing of Divine Mukasa, and it is already one of those moves that gets people talking just because of the name alone. You could not ask for a more memorable headline on a quiet transfer day.

Beyond the joke value, it is still another loan deal for West Ham to add to the pile, and that will split opinion depending on what you think they need right now. Some will see it as a sensible bit of business, others will just roll their eyes and move on.

Either way, it has got the usual football internet reaction going, with the name doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. Absolute scenes just from the announcement

The officials are gonna be unbearable if this turns into another one of those games where every little thing gets blown up and then ignored the next minute, proper joke stuff, you watch them miss obvious calls all night and then suddenly find their whistle for nothing moments later, football is hard enough without the ref making himself the main character every bloody week

Nah I dont think its just the name carrying it, a loan can still be useful if the squad needs legs and depth, people acting like every move has to be a superstar signing are missing the point a bit

The reaction makes sense because the headline is so distinctive, but the actual move is still just a loan and should be judged on that basis. Clubs do not get points for having funny announcement graphics, they get points for whether the player fits the squad and the plan.

West Ham fans are already acting like this is some sort of statement signing because the name sounds outrageous and yeah fair enough it is funny but at the end of the day its still a loan and people are getting carried away over a headline, every transfer window turns into a meme factory and then everyone pretends they were serious all along, if the player does well then great but right now its just internet lads screaming about Divine Mukasa like he is a superhero and not another footballer being sent out on loan

People are taking the piss because of the name but can we not do the usual thing where a kid gets written off before he even gets a chance, a loan can be a massive thing for a player and West Ham might actually need someone hungry and willing to graft, not every signing needs to be a finished article or a shiny marquee name, give the lad a chance before the jokes turn into the whole story
