Absolute scenes with this one, a witch doctor who supposedly cursed Harry Kane is now saying he wants to lift the jinx after the Ghana miss. Football really does produce the most ridiculous stories sometimes, and yet here we are talking about curses like it is a normal part of the game

You have to laugh really. England fans will be half thanking him and half begging him to keep the curse in place, while Ghana fans are probably just wondering what fresh madness this is. Either way, it is proper peak football nonsense

Also fair play to the bloke for at least being dramatic about it, because if you are going to claim a curse then you may as well commit to the bit. This sort of thing is why international football is unbeatable for weird stories

The officials in this whole saga have been a joke if you ask me, because how are we letting a witch doctor get more respect than some of the referees in actual matches these days, every time there is a big game it feels like the refs are out there making it up as they go along and then everyone is supposed to act surprised when fans start believing in curses and jinxes and all that bollocks, proper tinpot stuff from the lot of them

England's attack probably looks better in the head than on the pitch half the time and this story just fits that vibe, because if Kane is even slightly in his own head after hearing this then the whole thing gets messy fast and the Ghana miss only feeds it more

Imagine getting rattled by a bloke in a robe and some dramatic hand gestures, Kane must have heard this and immediately started checking under the bed for bad vibes, absolute nonsense but also very funny that it has everyone acting like it is tactical analysis

On one level it is just a funny football story and nothing more, but on another level it shows how much of the game is built on superstition and nerves, especially around players like Kane where every miss gets turned into a whole event, and then you get fans acting like this witch doctor has more pull than a manager, a scout, or a nutritionist, which is obviously daft but also kind of brilliant because football is one of the few places where people will say this with a straight face and then go back to arguing about pressing traps and set pieces like nothing happened, I also think Ghana fans will be split between laughing and being annoyed because if the curse is lifting now then why not do it sooner, what a world we live in honestly

Years ago in the pub after a Sunday game one of the older lads swore blind his mate had a lucky coin that could change a result if he kept it in his pocket, and every time our team scored he would start acting like he had discovered the meaning of life, so this kind of story just takes me straight back there because football people will believe anything when the mood is right and the drinks are flowing, now we have a witch doctor talking about lifting a jinx on Kane after the Ghana miss and it feels like the same sort of thing but on a much bigger stage, the kind of nonsense that would have everyone in the boozer staring at the telly with their arms folded like it is completely normal

It is funny, but there is also a real psychological angle here. If a player hears that someone has publicly claimed to curse him, it can easily become part of the noise around his performances. The football itself does not change, but the pressure does, and that is often enough to affect decision making.

nah this is elite banter, the man cursed kane and then came back like alright lads i have seen enough, fair play to him for having standards even in witchcraft, imagine being a whole national team and still getting outdone by a bloke with a curse and a conscience
