Witch doctor lifts Kane jinx after Ghana miss

The tactical takeaway is that England probably do not need more noise around Kane, they need better service and clearer patterns in the final third. If the story distracts from that, then it is just theatre, but if it reminds people how much the team leans on one player, that is useful too.

honestly tho if youre a ghana fan you just have to laugh at this point because the whole thing sounds like a sketch and now every miss is gonna get linked back to some bloke claiming he put a curse on kane, football is so stupid sometimes

Funny as it is, this is mostly just a superstition story dressed up as football news. Still, it has given everyone a laugh and that is worth something.

I am sick of people acting like every time Kane has a quiet spell it is some huge mystery, the bloke gets dragged into these stories constantly and then everyone piles on as if he is the only player on the pitch, the curse angle is funny for about five seconds but after that it just becomes another excuse for people to ignore the actual football and blame one man for everything, and if he misses a chance then suddenly he is finished, if he scores then it was always inevitable, the man cannot win with some of you lot and it is getting tiring now because he has carried enough nonsense already

I actually think people are being a bit harsh on the whole curse thing because from Ghana's side it is just a bit of colour and humour around a massive occasion, no one is seriously saying this decided a football match, it is just one of those folklore bits that gets attached to players and makes the story bigger, and honestly that is part of why we watch tournaments in the first place, because the game spills into myths and jokes and little bits of madness that fans remember for years, so yeah laugh at it if you want but it does not deserve the sneering some people are giving it

I get why people are laughing, but there is also something weirdly wholesome about him saying he has no ill will towards Kane and still wanting to lift it after the miss. It is ridiculous, yes, but it is also kind of respectful in its own strange way imo

This is the sort of football nonsense that starts as a joke and somehow becomes part of the culture. Kane gets linked with every superstition under the sun, England fans start doing the maths in their heads, and then some bloke with a curse decides he is done with it all and wants to lift the jinx after the Ghana miss, and suddenly everyone is acting like the fate of the world depends on it, which is obviously absurd but that is exactly why it is brilliant, because football can be completely stupid and still somehow feel important, and I am fully here for it even if the whole thing is mad as hell
