Zlatan gets humble over Messi again

I think the funniest thing is that people still get caught off guard by this sort of thing when Zlatan has always had a weirdly sincere side underneath all the noise. He will absolutely talk himself up and create the whole myth around Zlatan, but when he respects someone he really seems to mean it and that comes through here. Messi just has that effect on people and it is wild to watch because one minute the aura is all about Zlatan and the next minute he is basically a humble fan with a microphone and people online are losing their minds over it and honestly fair enough because it is funny as hell and also kind of lovely in a strange football way
 
It is a good reminder that personality and respect can coexist. Zlatan can be a showman and still genuinely admire Messi, and that does not make either of them less interesting. If anything, it makes the whole exchange feel more human.
 
i cant even pretend this doesnt make me smile because zlatan is usually such a full on character and then suddenly hes talking like this about messi and it just feels proper wholesome for football standards ngl
 
I think you are overplaying the humility angle here, it is just Zlatan giving credit where he already has before.
 
The officials would probably hate this thread because any time Messi or Zlatan gets mentioned everyone forgets the actual football and starts arguing about mythology and ego and all that nonsense and then the refs somehow become part of the debate too even when they have nothing to do with it and it drives me mad because half the time people are more interested in a quote than the game itself and then they wonder why football discourse is so broken and overblown and dramatic and full of nonsense when every conversation gets turned into a referendum on the referee, the media, the players, the legacy, the GOAT debate, all of it, and nobody can just say a bloke gave another bloke a proper compliment without turning it into a five hour conspiracy about favouritism and agenda and bias and I swear some of these people need to go outside and touch grass because it is taking the piss
 
the way some people are acting like this is some earth shattering revelation is hilarious honestly zlatan has always been like this when he wants to be and now everyone is pretending he has discovered emotion for the first time
