APIA’s Cup pedigree could help Tigers roar
No recent head-to-head record exists between these clubs as we enter the 2026 edition of the Australia Cup, but this tie has extra spice because of the famous knockouts that Apia Leichhardt inflicted upon Melbourne Victory in 2018.
The Tigers will be looking to go all the way again and on current form, they are good enough to make the A-League outfit sweat on Wednesday.
Franco Parisi has had an excellent 12 months in charge of Apia, who were rock solid and have been just as ruthless as they go in search of glory on the main stage.
Parisi's team are well-organised, energetic and capable of turning the screw on their opponents with compact pressing, midfield dominance and the ability to hit the opponent with some venom on set pieces.

Their most recent games include a 0-1 defeat at home to Sydney FC in the A-League playoffs, a 4-0 win away to Kingborough Lions in the Australia Cup and a 0-0 draw away to Western Sydney Wanderers, where the visitors required penalties to get through.
Victory to win at 1.85 is a skinny favourite in this one and Apia, who are 3.6, seem a lot better value than they should be. The draw is 3.8, which also looks generous considering the Tigers' home form.
APIA could win this if they get on top.
However, our main selection will be Over 2.5 goals at 1.7 as this one could be a lively cup clash with BTTS Yes at 1.62 also tempting.
APIA's pressing can be relentless and if Victory lose possession in dangerous areas, then they could be caught out as the Tigers have been in good goalscoring form at home of late.
But the Boys in Blue can also really get after a team when they are on the front foot and their extra tempo and speed in the transition could cause problems for the Tigers if they can get them back on their heels.
APIA should be able to maintain possession and make Victory work for their openings if they remain in the tie but the A-League side should have enough quality to edge out the win in the end, so we're going for a 2-1 away victory at 17/2.
