Home comforts may see Bulls past Hurricanes
Bulls FC Academy have split their last two home games (W1, L1) while Hurstville ZFC have also split their previous two away games (W1, L1), but the Bulls will be expecting to win on Saturday.
The Bulls beat Hurstville ZFC 4-2 away from home in the reverse league game back in March and the two sides enter Saturday's clash in seventh and 11th respectively, on 28 and 23 points from 19 games.
Bulls FC Academy are the bookmakers' fancy at 1.97 compared to Hurstville ZFC's 3.11, which seems a bit odd given that the visitors have won three, drawn one and lost just one of their last five.
Two different systems on display
Bulls FC Academy have been coached inside their own academy structure for several years now and their style of play is to dominate possession, press the ball high up the pitch and express themselves when they have the ball.
Their best results come when they can get their young, expressive forwards on the front foot and they can carve out chances from midfield penetration and their high pressing style. However, they can be undone by a deep, compact defence.
Hurstville ZFC are managed by Italian coach Valerio Silvestro and he has implemented a pragmatic, compact, culture-based way of playing that revolves around defensive discipline and clinical finishing from wide areas.
Hurstville ZFC's best results have come when they can keep their shape in defence, either sitting deep or as a low-to-mid block, and hitting on the counter-attack or through wide delivery. Their players flourish in compact systems, which isn't to say they can't mix it with teams that play through the middle.
Bulls’ academy style should shine through
With the home record of Bulls FC Academy being strong and them sitting higher in the league table, we are siding with them to win this game. Hurstville ZFC have been in good form, but their away results have been poor and they are still scoring at a good rate (1.75 goals per game).
However, with odds of 1.51, we are backing the game to see both teams find the net as both sides have enough going forward to do damage to their opponents' respective defences.
